~ Technovation Challenge Pitch Night ~

You are cordially invited to the Technovation Challenge Pitch Night on April 28, 2011 at the Santa Monica Public Library Auditorium.

Join us as we celebrate the conclusion of the Spring Technovation Challenge with a business plan competition and an awards presentation for the winning teams and outstanding individuals. The evening will feature keynote speaker Lucy Hood (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lucy-hood/6/68/730), along with VCs and entrepreneurs, Dana Settle (http://www.crunchbase.com/person/dana-settle), Dave Siemer (http://davesiemer.com/venture-capital.php), Eva Ho (http://www.linkedin.com/in/evaho1), and Karen Jashinsky (http://o2maxfitness.com/meet-the-team/karen-jashinsky), as our Pitch Night Judges.

This will be a unique opportunity to network with industry leaders and budding entrepreneurs and to learn how to take an idea from concept to launch!

The Technovation Challenge

The Technovation Challenge gives young women from Los Angeles high schools the chance to work with computer science and business mentors to build skills and experience in technology and entrepreneurship.

This spring, 28 high-school girls and 8 industry professionals took part in the challenge to build the most creative mobile app. During the 9-week program, these talented young women participated in hands-on workshops  on topics including object-oriented programming, communication, teamwork, and business fundamentals.

Pitch Night

Each team will showcase their mobile apps to a panel of distinguished judges to win exciting prizes, including the opportunity to have their app professionally developed and distributed on the Android App Marketplace!   The winning team will also be flown to the San Francisco Bay Area to compete in the National Pitch Night!

So come join us for a fantastic night where you can network with like-minded professionals, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs, and support our program goals of giving young women increased opportunities to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs in technology!
